Boston Sports Blogapalooza II

What an event Boston Sports Blogapalooza is turning into. This past Saturday (11/6/10) the Baseball Tavern in Boston, MA hosted the second Boston Sports Blogapalooza. Joe Gill of Boston Sports Then and Now put on another great event, sponsored by Comcast Sports Net New England (CSNNE).

Some notables in attendance were CSNNE’s Joe Haggerty, Damon Amendolara (of the D.A. show on 98.5 The Sports Hub), Carolyn Manno of CSSNE, Paul ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald (of TownieNews), and countless others. There were a total of 113 people in attendance, an increase of 33 since the last event in May.

There is already talk of another Palooza and if you want to stay up to date, you can follow the Facebook page of Boston Sports Blogapalooza.

I have to say I really benefitted from attending. I met some great connections including one who works in the same organization as I do, the Boston Blazers. I worked the registration table for much of the event, but I was able to make some connections nonetheless.

This Palooza did something new in that there was a panel discussion related to several different topics. There were five experts brought in from various sports sites, radio stations and television stations in the area (i.e. 98.5, WEEI and CSN). Topics discussed included Baseball, Hockey, Football, Basketball and Social Media. Comcast Sports Net covered the panel discussion and you can find the footage here:

There was a raffle with tons of great prizes including a Cam Neely Bruins Jersey, multiple great books (one of which I won – Inbound Marketing), tons of T-shirts donated from sponsors, Patriots/Jets tickets, Boston Blazers tickets, giant posters, flags, and way too many other things to name.

This has to be one of the best free networking events I have been a part of. The people are all extremely friendly and the the environment is great, and the price is right (FREE!). Next Palooza already has the Providence Bruins expressing interest amongst others. Looking forward to the next one. Anyone who is in the Boston area I would recommend looking into this event.

Also, just a note: My favorite prize I took home from the event was a Milan Lucic Bruins print from The Boston Sports Company (probably about 7 feet by 5 feet). Here it is:
